"H-Happy
birthday, Kuririn!" The boy in front of her handed a wrapped gift. His
face was as red as tomato and his arms shook a little. Kuri beamed a radiant
smile; she never thought he would prepare a gift for her, while she already
happy for the fact that he was there, spending the most precious day of her
life together with the girl.
"Thank you so
much, Yuu---"
Just when she about to thank him, she felt the scene
blurred. Somebody shook her body and it ruined the image she saw before. A
loud, no, some loud voices welcoming her to the real world.
"Happy birthday Kuri~ Happy birthday Kuri~ Happy
birthday Kuririi--in~ Happy birthday to you~"
She opened her eyes. First thing she saw was a big thing
with white and pink lines in it. She tried to read the writing
'ha...ppy...birth...day....kuri...rin?' She read the words while tried to get
herself up.
"Now, now, blow the candles!" A cheerful voice was
heard. She knew that voice, it was her mother's.
Blinking her eyes few times, she gained her 80% vision
back. She startled in her place after she recognize the person who held the
cake in front of her.
"G...Gen-nii...chan?"
Sanada's face flushed but he tried to keep his calm.
"Make a wish and blow the candles." He commanded.
She gulped and closed her eyes, focusing on one special
wish she had. After some seconds, she opened her eyes and blow the '17' shaped
candles on top of the cake. Her mother, Tora, glomped on her to deliver her
daughter a warm hug. She hugged her back and that was when she realized her dad
-Zaizen Hikaru- record everything with his cell phone. Oh, she knew he would
upload the video to his blog later...
Her mother kissed her forehead, while saying something
between "happy sweet seventeen dear"-- or whatever close since she
can't focus her mind now. She thought of the video; did she had her hair okay?
Did she look bad in her post-wake up face? She didn't want to appear bad, since
Yuuta would likely watched the video if her dad uploaded it.
She got her mind back to earth when her father patted her
head gently. "Happy birthday." A short one, so Zaizen-like but she
didn't mind because she knew he cared.
A deep cough heard. "I-it was a shameful
thing," Sanada cleared his throat. Tora eyed him dangerously. He coughed
again, cautious of Tora's glare. "But since it's a once in a lifetime
event..." Sanada's words were cut in Kuririn's head, as she wondered how
come the strict and stoic brother of her willing to sing a happy birthday while
carrying the cake. Something must have stroked his sanity. But she didn't care,
instead she glomped herself on Sanada and hugged him tightly.
"O-oi, what are you doing?!"
If the surprise
from him was once in a lifetime, then let me hug Gen-niichan once in a lifetime
too!
"Now now, dressed yourself and go to the living room
quickly, okay. We'll have breakfast together." Her mother walked out from
her bedroom, followed by her husband and Sanada.
Twenty minutes later, Kuri was on her way to the living
room as her mother told her. She opened the door and the second surprise made
her heart jumped.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY KURI-CHAAAAN!!" She heard some
crackers sound and familiar voices congratulating her. A smile appeared on her
face as she glomped on her sensei and sister to say thank you. Two men joined
them in congratulating her happy birthday.
"Kippei-jiisan! Syuusuke-nii!" She exclaimed
happily as Tachibana patted her head and Fuji gave her a beautiful bouquet of
flowers. A sincere smile escaped her lips; she can't take such a blessing in
the morning. The important peoples in her live were gathered on her house,
spreading smiles and celebrating her seventeenth birthday. If she could, she
wished for this day to occur every day.
"Now everyone, grab your glass and let's
toast!"
"Tarundoru! Drinking in the morning is
prohibited!"
"Tsk tsk don't be so strict on your lovely sister's
special birthday, Sanada. And it's just a tea, ok?" Kuri laughed at the
fuss her brother and sensei's made. Each of them grabbed a cup of tea and held
it high. "For an awesome year ahead," She saw her sensei winked at
her, "and welcome to seventeen. To---ast!"
They had breakfast together after that. The room was
filled with laugh and happiness, not to mention Sanada tried to blend in with
the others even though he usually do the reverse. But the puzzle wasn't
complete yet...
Beep. Beep.
Kuri qucikly took out her cell phone and read the message
without checking the sender. A radiant smile formed on her lips. Now, her
puzzle of happiness was complete!
Happy birthday
Kuririn!! How about a lunch at usual cafe... to celebrate it?
